Dear Parents/Carers,

This morning the main school boiler failed to fire leaving significant blocks of the main school without any heating.

The gas supply to the school kitchens has not been affected.

Engineers have been in school all morning and have just identified the fault as requiring new parts to be ordered. The boiler will not be fixed by tomorrow.

Fortunately, the temperature today will remain just high enough to allow us to remain open to all students.

Tomorrow is forecast to be a lot colder and we cannot ask students and staff to work in classrooms that have no heating.

Therefore, I have made the decision that Year 7 and 8 students are to attend school as normal tomorrow, and we will work today to re-room students away from the coldest areas of school. They should attend in non-uniform and, if they have PE, then PE kit is optional.

Year 9, Year 10 and Year 11 students should stay at home for the final day of term, Tuesday 20th December, and work will be set on Show My Homework.

We will have some limited availability for Year 9, 10 and 11 students to attend school if there is no other option.

Parents must complete this form by 8pm this evening to allow us to follow safeguarding protocols.

These students should report to the Main Hall to be registered at 8.35am tomorrow and receive their timetable for the day.

I apologise for the inconvenience this late notice will cause.

Thanks

John Maher
