There has been a lot of comment in the media on the subject of Reinforced Autoclaved Concrete (RAAC) over the last week. Experts say the building material is less durable than reinforced concrete and deteriorates over time, so is susceptible to sudden failure. Ashfield School has already had its buildings surveyed to see if there is any of this material on our site and none was identified. The DfE has not contacted us to require any closures or mitigations to take place. We are pleased to advise that our school will be operating as normal.
