On Tuesday 19th April, we took over fifty GCSE Drama students to see Willy Russell’s touring production of Blood Brothers at the Derby Theatre. Not only did it help to vividly bring to life the students’ set text, but it contextualised everything they’ve learned in their lessons during the year, making them far more prepared for their upcoming written exam.

The students really enjoyed the trip, with many of them making comments like “I wasn’t expecting it to be that good”, “Wow… I loved it” and “It was an amazing piece of theatre”. The students, as always, represented Ashfield brilliantly and were a pleasure to take to the theatre. Sean Jones, who played Mickey in the performance, came out to the foyer after the show to speak to us and even took the time to have his picture taken with the students (and staff!). Another triumphant trip for the Ashfield Drama students! We are already looking forward to the next one!
